Ryton & Crawcrook Albion fell to a crushing 5-2 defeat against Crook Town at Kingsley Park in the Ebac Northern Football League Division Two on Wednesday.
Despite going ahead through Callum Turnbull’s second-minute penalty, Albion collapsed as they failed to seize the momentum from another early lead in a game and Crook responded in stunning fashion.
Jamie Tumilty slammed in the equaliser on 30 minutes after some poor defending from the hosts before Daniel Kent’s penalty edged the visitors in front at the break.
Jordan Fielding extended the lead on the hour as Ryton failed to clear a corner before Tumilty scored his second of the night with a stunning 30-yard finish.
And although Matthew Slee pulled one back for RACA with his first goal since his return from North Shields Athletic, Christian Holliday completed the rout with 10 minutes left with another easy goal.
The win for pre-season promotion favourites Crook moves them up to second in the table. In contrast, Mark Bullock’s injury-ravaged Ryton side – still searching for a first win of the season on home turf – sit in 14th position ahead of a trip to Jarrow on Saturday.
RACA: Josh Graham, Below, Joyeux (Moody 74), Turnbull, Shepherd, Ryan Graham (Ord 75), Outterside (Slee 49), Collins, Richardson, Davis, Liam Anderson. (Subs not used: Stephenson, Backhouse.)
