Kingsley Park, Crawcrook

Albion unveiled the new 'viewing platform' in front of the clubhouse before the international friendly game with East of Scotland side Edinburgh United, but unfortunately the persistant cloudbursts made it a soggy affair at Kingsley Park, although the pitch looked as good as it has been for many a year.

It was RACA who were the stronger in the early stages and took the lead in the 8th minute when Jack Cooper fired home from distance. Scott Jasper made it 2-0 on 19 minutes with a powerful strike but any thought that this would be a one sided match were soon dispelled as the Scots began to get in to the game which was both attractive to watch & competitive in what were tricky conditions with the repeated deluges from above. United deservedly pulled a goal back when Daniel McKinley nodded home a Kyle Brockie cross in the 25th minute, but Albion regained the two goal advantage when new signing Joe Shepherd making his Ryton debut, dinked one in from a corner just after the half hour mark. Both David Hansen in the Albion goal and visiting keeper Cameron Hanratty were being kepy busy but there were no further goals in the opening half.

Although the second half yielded no further goals either, it was still an entertaining spectacle for the drenched spectators to enjoy, Adam Dobson coming closest to scoring for RACA, Sonny Swanson, cousin of St Johnstone's Danny Swanson, nearest to scoring for Edinburgh, but like at Cullercoats in the first friendly, RACA ran out 3-1 winners.

A good day all round despite the weather, the only downer for Albion being an injury to Scott Jasper. A great bonding between the clubs & all being well we have a pre-season game sorted next season as we've been invited up to Patties Road for a return fixture.
