The Northern Football League’s Management Committee (LMC) has announced the start date for the new season.
The 2021-22 Ebac Northern Football League’s First and Second Divisions will kick off on Saturday 31st July 2021.
Northern League Chairman Glenn Youngman said: “Hopefully we can all look forward to welcoming spectators back into our clubs and having a full, uninterrupted season ahead of us.
"We have all missed our regular football fix.
“The new season heralds a significant change for our league – with three clubs being promoted from our first division into the new Step 4 league for the region, along with three teams being promoted from the second division and clubs coming into our league from our feeder leagues.
“But the new season will still mean that our league can offer some great games."
The late July kick off means it will be the earliest ever start to a Northern League campaign with all previous seasons (except last year's that was delayed until September) getting underway in August.
For many of the clubs, it will be the first time that they will have been in competitive action since November last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Restrictions to control the global health emergency resulted in the null and void of the 2019-20 season and the early curtailment of the 2020-21 campaign.
The LMC is yet to confirm the details or format of the two league cup competitions it runs.
