Ryton & Crawcrook Albion were left to rue missed chances as they went down to a 3-1 defeat at Billingham Town in sweltering conditions on Teesside on Saturday.

Albion dominated the chances in the first half but it was the hosts who broke the deadlock on the hour mark through Daniel Earl (60). In a sloppy few minutes, RACA then conceded a penalty and Earl (62) converted to double the lead.

Ryton responded well and Louis Anderson (64) pulled a goal back but Harry Close (85) wrapped up the win for the First Division side on a quick counter-attack as the visitors were pushing for an equaliser.

Daniel Iredale's side travel to local neighbours and newly-promoted Northern Alliance Premier League side Prudhoe YCFC on Tuesday night (rearranged from today) before welcoming Whickham to Kingsley Park on Friday night in the final pre-season fixture.
